Behind the Scenes of Shooting Framar's Beach Bum Collection in Florida 🌴

One of my favourite parts of being a Niagara brand photographer is that every project is completely different. Sometimes I'm in the studio shooting products. Sometimes I'm photographing a campaign locally. And sometimes, I get to hop on a plane and head to Florida because Canada refuses to look like summer.

Back in March, Chloe (our TikTok/social guru girlie) and I got sent to Florida to shoot Framar's new Beach Bum Collection. The timing honestly couldn't have been better because Canada was still cold, grey, and somehow still getting snow. We needed actual beach vibes, so Florida it was.

The funniest part is how little time we actually had there.

We landed, grabbed our bags, drove straight to a salon where we'd shipped all of the products ahead of time, picked everything up, and immediately went to the beach. We didn't even check into the hotel first. I don't even remember sitting down before we started shooting.

We knew we only had a couple of days, so we wanted to squeeze every bit of daylight out of the trip.

The beach ended up being the perfect backdrop for the collection. Bright colours, palm trees, ocean, sunshine... it all just worked.

What didn't work was our sunscreen situation.

We were both SO burnt after that first day. Like, bright red. I don't think either of us realized just how long we'd been standing out in the sun until we got back that night.

Luckily we had another day to finish everything up, so we were back out the next morning. This time with a lot more sunscreen and a much better idea of exactly what we still wanted to shoot. We ended up getting a bunch of my favourite photos that second day.

Then it was basically over. We flew home on day three, unpacked, and went right back to work like we'd never left.

Trips like this are one of the coolest parts of what I get to do as a commercial photographer in Niagara. It's easy to look at launch photos online and forget that someone actually had to make them happen. Sometimes that means flying somewhere warm because Canada refuses to cooperate.

I'm really grateful that Framar trusted me to shoot another collection. Every launch is different and it's always exciting getting to help bring someone's vision to life. Whether I'm creating product photography, lifestyle images, or campaign content, I love finding locations that make a brand feel like itself.

Looking back, I'd do it all again. Maybe I'd pack another bottle of sunscreen... but I'd still do it all again.

I still can't believe we flew all the way to Florida, spent two days living on the beach, and came home looking like lobsters. Worth it though.
